The influence of the weather on your In2Food, Carclin or Synerlogic order
Probably you have experienced a situation where you had to deal with dangerous weather. You could hear the wind whipping through the trees, the rain is pouring down from the sky or the roads are as slippery as an ice rink. We all recognize the signs of dangerous weather conditions.To indicate the danger of weather, the KNMI (Royal Dutch Metrology Institute) issues a code: code yellow, code orange, maybe even code red. What does it all mean, and what should you do with it?

Code yellow, orange and red
To indicate the danger of weather, the KNMI (Royal Dutch Metrology Institute) issues a code. You probably have already guessed it: yellow is the least risky and red means the weather conditions are the most extreme. What is the impact of these codes for you? Before we answer that question, we will first explain what it means when a code is assigned.
KNMI determines a code when the weather affects at least one of the following three aspects: slipperiness, wind or reduced visibility. In the case of wind or reduced visibility, we almost always talk about code yellow and orange in the Netherlands. When it comes to slipperiness, code red can sometimes be issued, for instance when it snows or when there is ice on the road.
What do the codes yellow and orange mean for my delivery?
In the event of code yellow and orange, transport is allowed and our experienced drivers will assess whether the risk can be taken or not. Our customers vary from small-scale distributors to large factories. It may occur that our colleagues our one of our partners considers it too dangerous to enter a country road due to wind, visibility or slippery conditions. However, it rarely happens that code yellow or orange has an impact on your delivery, therefore code red is more important: code red always affects your delivery!
What does code red mean for my delivery?
In case of code red the government advises not to transport goods. Synerlogic delivers various goods, from chemicals to ingredients. This means that we often transport ADR-products in our trucks. We value you and our safety and therefore choose not to transport anything in case of code red. In Germany, transport of ADR-goods is even prohibited.
What if other companies do deliver in case of code red?
In case of code red it may occur that other companies will continue the supply of products and we do not. In The Netherlands code red is an advice and not an obligation. When we determine that the situation is too dangerous to deliver your order, this has to do with four factors
- The location of your company;
- The means of transport;
- The size of the means of transport;
- The value that a transport company attaches to safety.
How can we work together to find a solution?
What about the products you order? You obviously need these to keep your production running. Safety is important to us, as is the fact that you receive your products on time! That’s why in situations like this we think it’s important to be transparent in our communication. In the event of code red, our customer service department will always contact you immediately to look for a solution. As you have read, there are a number of (local) factors that influence your situation. Every situation is different and needs a different approach. In case of code red, we always work together with our customers to find the best solution.
